Nesting
Sabi nila when you're about to give birth, you'll be nesting. I think I did the nesting kanina. Nag general cleaning kami ng house. I'm supposed to be on bed rest so I just supervised the cleaning. I do hope na di pa lumabas si baby eventhough mommy did the nesting thing already. I'm supposed to give birth on july 1 pa. That's the time my baby will be 37 weeks and that's the safe time. Well I'm not yet totally done with the prep thing. I'm actually postponing putting in the bag, the things we need to bring to the hospital. I would like to think na lalabas si baby on scheduled date so I refuse to finish the packing as early as now. So goodluck sakin if na excite si baby at naisipang mag hello world ng maaga

Check up
I had my regular check up with my OB. I gained 3 lbs (yey), I now weigh 107lbs. According to my pedia, everything looks ok. Before I went to her, I had my blood sugar checked at the endoc office and it was 82. She asked me to visit her again after 3 weeks, by then we might be able to finalize my schedule (Scheduled CS kasi ako), since I have gestational diabetes, my OB wants to do it as early as possible to avoid complications daw. Me and hubby wanted July 7, para 7-7-08. At least madaling tandaan. Sabi nga ng OB ko, a lot are choosing 8-8-08. Syempre kung makakapili lang ako na aabot sa ganung date e di ganun din ang pipiliin ko. Tapos, Makati Med's new building will be opened on Aug. 8 din daw. I would love to give birth in a new delivery room/Operating room and stay in a new room...kaso lang, mas maaga ako, so the old rooms will do (like i have a choice...hahaha).
While my OB was checking on the heart rate, super galaw ni baby. As in moving talaga na kahit di mo hawakan ang tyan ko e makikita mo na nag mo-move. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, mas malikot itong pangalawa. Pero the size daw is almost the same. Basty kasi was 7.11, sana nga ganun din si baby girl, di super laki pero tama lang para di mahirap hawakan. Pag kasi mas maliit parang nakakailang hawakan at baka mapilayan or something.

Result of the OGTT
According to the endo, if we use the American association standard, the result is negative (yehey), but if we use the WHO standard, the result is positive, borderline :(. Since it's not too high, she just advised me to avoid sweets...poor me, I can't eat ice cream, donuts, cakes, chocolates..... and here's the weird part, now that I know that I have to avoid sweets, I'm craving for anything sweet.
The endo also told me to go back to her after 2 weeks. They'll get blood sample, 2 hours after my last meal. Then she also said that I have to have another OGTT on the 8th month of my pregnancy, just to be on the safe side. Yup, another OGTT.... I feel like vomitting.
Nagtitipid...lalong napamahal
After my 75g OGTT, my OB recommended that I go to an endo. She referred me to an endo who also has a clinic at Makati Med. Instead of going there, I went to our office clinic and they told me that we have an endo, but his sked is every Thursday morning only. So I went to our office endo last Thursday and he requested that I get the 100g OGTT. He also told me to get a pink slip from our clinic so that I can go to his clinic outside the office once I have the result of the OGTT, since there's no work on May 1 (thursday). So last Sunday, I took the 100g OGTT at Makati MEd which I had to pay from my own pocket...cost is 1330. I got the result last Monday. After getting the result, I went to our clinic to get the pink slip I need to go to the endo. They told me that they can't give me the pink slip because my case is pregnancy related. So what choice do I have?
Yesterday, I went to the endo originally referred by my OB. To my dismay, I found out that there's really no need for the 100g OGTT. What?!!! After going thru the test (remember, 4 blood extractions, 3 hrs waiting, not to mention the cost of the test), the endo is telling me that If I went straight to her, the 75g OGTT would have suffice.
So you see, instead of nakatipid ako para dun sa consultation fee ng endo (550)...I ended up paying for the 100g OGTT and still paid the 550 consultation fee dahil I ended up going to her naman. HAy! Ang nagtitipid, lalong napamahal :(

Another OGTT
Oh yes, you read it right. I need to have another test. The first test was 50 grams, second was 75 grams, and now I have to take the 100grams test. This time, there will be 4 extractions (0 hr, 1 hr, 2hr,3hr).
The endo doctor said there's no need to worry at this point and I don't need a special diet yet. He needs to see the result of the third test before he'll tell me what to do next.
It's just sad that our company will not cover for the lab test (I actually paid for the 2 previous tests and will have to shoulder this one too). They said the condition is pregnancy related that's why. It's good I verified the request of the doctor at the lab room before I left the clinic, because if not, I would have done my 10 hr fasting and be there at 7am tomorrow only to find out that they will not conduct the test. (I can imagine myself going bersek!)
Once again, I will request for you to include us in your prayers. I'll probably have the test this Sunday.

OGTT experience
The experience was not traumatic. It was actually better than I expected. I thought I was going to stay there for 4 hours and there will be 4 blood extraction and that i have to drink the juice each time. We were at Makati Med 6:45am and my first blood sample was taken at 7am. After the first blood sample, I was asked to drink the juice (tasted like royal) and was told to come back at 8am for the second blood extraction. To kill the time, me and hubby went to the third floor where they have a soft couch, instead of those hard wood seats. We were prepared to wait for a long time, so we brought the laptop with WeRoam to pass the time. I was not able to sleep the night before so I was really sleepy. While hubby did his surfing, I doze off...then it's time to go to the lab again. I went straight to the lab and had the second blood sample, third sample will be taken at 9am. Again, we went to the third floor and hubby surfed and I doze off to sleepkingdom. At 9am, had the last blood sample and was done. We hurriedly went home cause I was really hungry and thirsty already (had 10 hours fasting, no food, even water di pede). After eating and few minutes of rest, I finally was able to sleep well. Don't want to think of the result yet.
Side kwento:
Although they are improving their facilities naman...sana maayos na lahat soon. I also noticed na medyo friendlier na ang mga employees or baka experience ko lang.

OGTT
OMG! Based on the result of my glucose test last Monday, I have high sugar in my blood. My OB asked me to undergo OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to check if I have Gestational Diabetes. Based from what I read on the web, the test will be done in about 4 hours or more and there will be 3 to 4 blood extration. I also have to fast..wawa naman my baby, magugutom sya. Just thinking about it makes me sick. I don't like needles as much as staying in the hallway of the hospital for almost half day. But what can I do? I have to undergo the test for my health and my baby's health.
Please pray for me and my baby. I do hope that this test won't be a bad news. I hate the idea of insulin shots. According to my OB, if I have Gestational diabetes, then I will have to be injected because oral meds will not be good for my baby.
There's only 1 good thing I can think about the test, the glucose juice (if that's what they call it) which I have to drink doesn't taste bad. I read from another blog (sorry can't remember the site) that she had to repeat the test because she vomitted due to the taste of the juice. Yes, you must not vomit and you have to drink it all within 5 minutes.

26 weeks
Had my regular check up yesterday. I gave the ultra sound result to my OB. According to her, everything looks ok. I gained 7lbs since my last check up (a month ago). It's my biggest gain so far, even if you compare it with my first pregnancy. That prompted my OB to request for a glucose challenge test specially when I told her that my mother is diabetic. Right after the check up, I went down to the lab (MMC) to have the test. They asked me to drink a glass of orange looking liquid which tasted like Royal then asked me to come back after an hour so that they can do the blood extraction. I'm not supposed to eat anything and move around. It was really a bore! So 2 minutes before the time, I was back. I hate to admit it but I'm scared of needles and blood so I had to close my eyes while the medtech did his thing. I really hope the result won't be bad news.
