Alec with daddy @ GB5

Hanging out at Greenbelt 5 after the mass. We were supposed to buy the Chico grinder, but they're out of stock (even at the Glorietta branch). Kuya Basty is not around, he's already in the province enjoying his summer v!

Basty was not in his usual mood. I even had to run with him when he joined the pull the car game (which we won, yipee!)...actually, we had to make him pilit to join...he did not want to let go of me.

Family Day @ Island Cove

Up to the last minute, we were not sure if we're going or not. Basty had a swollen toe and another open wound in another toe which he got a day before. We're hesitant because we do not want him to go swimming with an open wound. He's so excited about the trip...so we went anyway.

We we're supposed to leave home at 6am because we were informed to allot 2 hours travel time. We left home at 7:45 and arrived at the location 45 minutes after. It was our first time to go there and we were surprised that it was not that far. I'm glad though that the travel time was shorter than expected because I was so stressed out thinking that we're sooo late and might miss most of the activities.

Alec @ 6mos

Alec is now 6 mos. Time flies really fast. I still remember the mixed emotions I had when I found out we were pregnant again. I was nervous because Basty just turned 1, few months ago, meaning he will be 2 when I give birth and I'm not sure if I can handle another baby. Well, it wasn't easy, but I have no regrets. I'm sure Eric feels the same way too. Alec brings so much joy to me and of course to Eric. I can see how Eric somehow relaxes after a tiring day at the sight of Alec's smile and coos.

Preschool Hunt Part I

I am still on maternity leave and I realized that Basty could use some time out of our condo unit. He stayed at his lola’s house for quite some time and there were lots of kids there and a large area to run around, but now, it’s just our small unit and some time in front of the condo building with some kids. When we went to the first school, I really didn’t have any standard on what school I’m looking for. I didn’t even have prepared questions to ask. I didn’t even think how Basty will react (it's a different story now after reading a lot of stuff on sending kids to preschool)

First school: O’dea International School

I’m sorry but I forgot the name of the first person we talked to. The principal is Ms. Ann. I was asked about Basty and I said that his speech is ok. I want him to mingle with other kids and do some scribbling. I was informed that they have a promo. Instead of the Monday to Friday schedule, they are offering a 3 day/week schedule at lower monthly fee. The are also offering 3day trial class to see first how the child will react to “schooling” cause some kids are having separation anxiety. After the short talk, I asked if I can see the rooms. It so happen that the toddler class is about to begin when we entered. I was holding Basty’s hand, but the moment he saw the toys, he let go of my hand and went straight to the car toy and didn’t even bother to look back….I was surprised! I just said “oh, I guess my baby doesn’t have separation anxiety”….LOL. So he went straight to have his first trial class.

The second day, he was excited when he saw another toy car, he went straight without removing his shoes, but the teacher asked him to remove his shoes first. I was surprised that he followed the instruction. He normally would shout “AYAW”. Whenever I take a peek (there’s a small space in the door wherein you can take a peek inside, without those inside noticing it), he’s riding the toy car. I even saw the teacher asking him to let another kid ride the car but Basty refused. That’s actually something that I want him to change. He doesn’t want to share toys. He normally plays alone with his toys even when there are other kids around.

There’s a reception area where parents are allowed to wait for their kids. When it was time to go home, I saw most of the kids went out already but no sign of Basty, then I heard the teacher say “ma’am, si Basty ayaw pong lumabas”. I had to go to the room and get him out of there. He actually protested and gave me the “AYAW” line. The teacher had to turn the lights off so that he’ll come with me. Grabe ha, no separation anxiety tapos ayaw pang umuwi…LOL

Here's a picture when I went in to get him:

Some updates

Gave birth @ Makati Med last July 1 to a healthy 6.5lbs baby girl. We decided to name her Alecxia Mari. Birthing kwento to follow. Just sneaking up some online time while my baby is sleeping. Most of the time, I also sleep when she sleeps cause it's really hard to keep up when she's awake at unholy hour.
We are currently staying here in Pampanga, at my parent's place. We'll probably be here for 2 weeks, then back to homebase. There are things that I like better here, but there are certainly things that I miss from home (like aircon and hotshower)...of course I miss my hubby. He's actually the reason why we can't stay long here...wawa naman kasi sya, nobody but him sa bahay. No one to look after him. Pagdating nya sa house, he needs to think pa of what to eat for dinner then pag gising naman what to eat for breakfast. Kung sya lang ang masusunod, gusto na nya kaming sunduin this weekend :)
Just check my twitter for updates. I do my updates using twitterberry in my Blackberry. Thank God for Blackberry, I'm still connected to the online world.

Grocery Shopping tips

There's a topic about grocery shopping tips in one of my yahoogroups. Somebody mentioned about having a list (as well as list police) when you go to the grocery/market. I'm not really a list person, but my hubby is. To please him (and avoid argugemnts) I create a list before we go to the grocery. But I don't really stick to the list. I know, I'm such a bad shopper. I can't be a budget officer, I can't even police myself. But lately, I'm trying my best to minimize our expenses. Super mahal na lahat ng bilihin.

Some of the things I'm trying to do:
- put more veggies and fish in our weekly menu (less expensive than all meat meals, not to mention healthier) but I don't really like buying the fish or even meat in palengke. I just feel that it's more prone to not too good quality meats(smuggled, double dead...u get the picture)
- avoid going to the grocery as much as possible...if I don't go there myself, I avoid the unnecessary buys, I just provide a list of things to buy to the maid, of course she sticks to it.
- I use my loyalty card to get loyalty points then exchange the points to vouchers.- buy shampoo sachets. I noticed that our maid tend to use up more shampoo when we buy the bottle. At least if it's in sachet I can monitor how long the packs should last.
- I use my credit card to pay. This way, I get points as well and I don't have to bring cash. I pay all the amount due on or before due date, to avoid getting any charges (finance charge, late payment, etc). This way, I get the advantages of having a card.
